PFAS Water Contamination Lawsuit Update
Hi, I’m attorney Tracy Paulsen with Rightful Legal.
Today I wanted to give you an important update about the PFAS water contamination lawsuit and how major corporations like 3M, DuPont, and Estée Lauder are being held accountable for the harm caused by these toxic chemicals.
For decades, companies used PFAS, also known as forever chemicals, in everything from firefighting foam to household and cosmetic products. These chemicals, including PFOS and PFOA, do not break down; instead, they accumulate in our water, in our environment, and in our bodies.
Now, families across the United States are paying the price with rising rates of cancer and other illnesses like thyroid disease, liver damage, and other serious health conditions linked directly to PFAS exposure.
Standing Up Against Manufacturers
Citizens, advocates, and law firms such as Rightful Legal are standing up against these manufacturers.
Recently, town after town is stepping up—like Nyack, New York, which just sued Estée Lauder and Teva Pharmaceuticals, alleging that their industrial operations contaminated the community’s drinking water.
In Santa Clara County, California, officials are suing 3M and DuPont, claiming that their firefighting foam polluted local water supplies.
Legal Actions and Key Test Sites
The courts are taking action.
Just this month, a federal judge selected 12 key sites—including airports, fire stations, and training centers—in states like Maryland, Florida, and Alaska.
These will help serve as test cases to trace PFAS contamination back to its source. These facilities are more likely to have purchase records showing exactly which companies made and sold this toxic foam.
This could be a very important turning point. If these records confirm what we suspect, it will be a powerful tool to hold these manufacturers accountable in court and to help victims who have been harmed get the compensation they deserve.
