Why Parents Should Be Concerned
If you’re a parent of a minor child, let me ask you something. When your child plays a game made for children, shouldn’t you feel safe letting them enjoy it? I’m attorney Tracy Paulsen with Rightful Legal, and today I want to talk to parents whose children were hurt or taken advantage of on Roblox — a platform that promised creativity and connection, but failed far too many children.
For years, Roblox has been a place children love. But behind the bright colors and fun games, there has been a very dark side.
Real Stories from Families
Families across the country have come forward saying predators used Roblox to find children, talk to them in private chats, pretend to be other kids, and push them into conversations or actions no child should ever experience.
Parents describe heartbreaking stories:
• A young girl who thought she made a new friend, only to be pressured into sharing pictures she didn’t understand were wrong.
• A quiet, shy boy lured into a private game where an adult tricked him into giving personal information.
• A child who began chatting with someone who seemed kind, only for the conversation to slowly turn frightening, confusing, and sexual.
These stories aren’t isolated incidents.
Lawsuits Filed Across the U.S.
Lawyers across the country have filed lawsuits on behalf of children — in Indiana, New Jersey, California, Alabama, and Illinois. These cases detail grooming, manipulation, explicit sexual messages, and even real-world danger traced back to someone the child first met on Roblox.
Some children were tricked into leaving their homes. Some were pressured to meet strangers. Some suffered deep emotional trauma. Many cases involve sexual exploitation. Some families have even lost their children because of the harm this platform allowed.
Because so many families reported similar patterns of abuse, the cases have been consolidated into what is commonly known as the Roblox multidistrict litigation. This means lawyers, judges, and experts are now working together to uncover what Roblox knew, what they failed to fix, and how predators were able to hurt children for so long.
How Predators Accessed Children
So how did this happen?
Roblox allowed risky and unsafe behavior to grow for years. Predators hid behind child-friendly avatars. In-game chats weren’t monitored closely. Private messages went unchecked. Kids could enter games that looked innocent on the outside but contained violent or sexual content inside.
Even when parents complained, Roblox’s safety systems were not strong enough to stop the problem.
Roblox’s Delayed Safety Features
In late 2024, Roblox finally rolled out stronger safety features — tighter controls, better filters, new limits for younger kids.
But for countless families, these changes came too late.
The question every parent must ask is: Why did Roblox wait until so many children were already hurt?
The truth is painful: Roblox had the power to protect children, and they simply did not do enough.
Does Your Family Have a Claim?
Your family may have a claim if your child experienced any of the following on Roblox:
• Grooming
• Requests for sexual photos or videos
• Exposure to sexual or violent content
• Pressure from someone pretending to be a child
• A predator moving the conversation to another app, such as Discord
You may still have a claim even if your child didn’t tell you right away, even if you didn’t report it to police, and even if the details are now confusing or unclear. Kids often feel scared, embarrassed, or unsure how to explain what happened.
None of this is your fault.
None of this is your child’s fault.
