Is Roblox Safe for Children?
If your child is playing a game made for children, shouldn’t they be able to trust that the game is safe?
I’m attorney Tracy Paulsen with Rightful Legal. If your child was harmed or sexually abused by someone they met on the Roblox video game platform, I want to speak with you directly so you understand your rights.
Attorney introduction and why this matters
Roblox was supposed to be a fun place for children. A place to play, create, and make friends. But many families have learned the hard way that dangerous adults were able to use Roblox to talk to kids, pretend to be kids, and slowly gain their trust.
How predators allegedly contacted kids
Some adults asked children to chat privately. Some pressured them for pictures. Some moved the child to another app, where things became much worse.
Real cases parents should know about
In one real case, an eleven year old girl was tricked by an adult pretending to be another child. He groomed her on Roblox and then forced her to send pictures she never should have been asked for.
In another case, a child started talking with someone on Roblox, and the predator convinced the child to move the conversation to another messaging app, where the abuse continued. Often, this abuse was sexual in nature.
Stories like these began happening all over the country. Because so many families reported the same problems, these lawsuits have now been brought together in one large legal action.
What is the Roblox MDL lawsuit
This case is commonly referred to as the Roblox multidistrict litigation.
So what did Roblox do wrong?
What Roblox is accused of failing to do
The lawsuits allege that Roblox did not do enough to keep children safe. They did not properly monitor private chats. They did not stop adults from pretending to be children. They did not protect children from seeing or being asked to do sexual things. And they did not fix dangerous problems even after warning signs appeared.
As parents, this is absolutely terrifying. You trusted Roblox. You trusted the game’s promises. And the company failed you and your child.
Do you qualify for a legal claim
Now let’s talk about what you can do and whether your family may qualify for a claim.
Your family may qualify if your child was groomed, asked for sexual pictures, talked to by an adult pretending to be a child, exposed to sexual content, or pressured into anything inappropriate on Roblox or after meeting someone on Roblox.
Important rights parents often do not know
This part is very important. You can still have a case even if you did not report it. Even if your child did not tell you right away. Even if you do not have screenshots. Even if your child is scared or confused about what happened.
Many children feel ashamed. Many are afraid to speak up. None of this takes away your rights as a parent or your child’s rights.
